Animals are where my art journey truly started, if we include my early, pre-kindergarten drawings. In elementary school, I spent a lot of time finding dog encyclopedias and drawing all the dog breeds. I would challenge myself to write down as many dog breeds as I could and take ‘Guess the Breed!’ quizzes often. This love for capturing animals, pets especially, has stuck with me as I’ve expanded the subjects of my work. It’s hard to imagine any work of mine without an animal in it.

Capturing the personality and love of a pet continues to be an art that brings me great joy and purpose. I feel honored to have been given the chance to create so many mementos of pets, those still with us, and those that have passed on. With every acrylic portrait I deliver, immense time is put into finding what makes your pet who they are.
